What Is a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer?

A resident of Wellington, Florida, Dr. Charles Humble is the founder and president of NITV Federal Services (NFS), the world’s leading forensic voice stress analysis company. As the founder of NFS, Dr. Charles Humble helped develop the Computer Voice Stress Analyzer in 1986.

A Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) is a truth verification tool used by over 2,500 law enforcement agencies, including the US Military Special Forces, Atlanta P.D., and the California Highway Patrol. A CVSA comprises a microphone that is plugged into a computer that analyzes and displays an individual’s responses to questions. When using the tool, you don’t need to attach wires to the subject whose responses are being tested as you would do in a polygraph. The only thing required is the microphone, which captures the subject’s voice.

The manufacturers of the CVSA don’t claim that their devices can detect lies. Instead, they market them as devices that can measure micro tremors, which voice pattern changes caused by stress or the physical effort when someone is being deceptive. CVSA devices have been used to interrogate suspects and verify witness statements in homicide, robbery, and white-collar crimes, among others. They have also been used for pre-employment background checks.

Tips for Incorporating Experimental Photography Techniques

Since July 1988, Dr. Charles Humble has served as the president of.NITV Federal Services (NFS). When not working for the West Palm Beach, Florida-based company, Charles Humble pursues his artistic pastimes, which include photography. Below are tips for incorporating experimental photography techniques into your work.

You can employ experimental photography techniques during any point in the process. Even when selecting equipment, you can consider what setup will produce the images you desire. Digital cameras may contain settings that, when applied, will alter the photos you take in some way, like changing how colors appear. Using a digital camera, as opposed to a camera that uses film, will also open up different possibilities.

When in the field, you can introduce various elements that will affect the end product of your shoot. In a dark location, by setting your digital camera to a long shutter speed and running across the frame with a flashlight, you will imprint any shapes formed by the light onto the finished image, while you are not visible. You also can use intentional motion blur (IBM) by moving your camera while the shudder is open to add the illusion of motion to your images.

Using Experimental Musical Techniques When Creating Songs

The president of NITV Federal Services (NFS) for more than 30 years based in Florida, Dr. Charles Humble has created software used by thousands of law enforcement agencies nationwide. Engaging in many artistic hobbies, Charles Humble records acoustic music and vocals and distributes his work online. Experimental musical techniques can be used during any step of creating a song, resulting in a dynamic listening experience.

Though digital music creation, mixing, and mastering software give people more tools to work with, they are qualitatively different from playing a physical instrument. If you play an instrument, or have a history of doing so, use that experience to guide you. Record yourself improvising on that instrument every day, and after several weeks, listen to those recordings. Use material from those improvisations to inspire new work.

Alternatively, if you want to embrace the opportunities afforded by digital instruments and software, you can use techniques like field recording. By capturing sounds, spontaneously or planned, in a space outside a traditional recording studio, you can produce more varied work. If you wish to introduce spontaneity into a recording or live performance, use randomness to determine what notes, rhythms, or other sounds play. If performing live, you can employ these techniques to ensure that no two performances will sound exactly alike.
